As New York prepares to co-host the World Cup, immigrants in the US live in fear of ICE's racist abduction and deportation campaign while the US wages war and genocide, from Palestine to Iran and beyond. As grassroots football / soccer groups in New York City, we find joy, solace, and solidarity in the beautiful game, while rejecting FIFA's claims over our beloved sport. The People's World Cup is our coalition of grassroots tournaments, watch parties, teach-ins, and beyond intended to remind us of all we love about football, and all we reject about its corporatization, exploitation, and corruption.
